Tory MPs yelled like Fred Flinstone when Emily Thornberry called them “cavemen” over their opposition to votes at 16 during PMQs today.

But one of their own tribe thinks she’ll be proved right.

Foreign Office Minister Mark Field admitted his party’s position on the issue is going to look positively prehistoric in years to come. He told the BBC’s Daily Politics:

“To be candid with you, whilst I totally agree with the Government’s position on this, I think the move of history will be against us on this. It will happen at some point.”

His comments echo what Thornberry said when she raised the issue at PMQs earlier:

“When change is right it cannot be resisted forever and this is a change whose time has come.”

No wonder the Tory dinosaurs are on their way to going extinct…
