Police have arrested a man outside Parliament on suspicion of carrying a knife – but say there are no reports of any injuries.

The incident took place at the Carriage Gates entrance – the site of the terrorist attack on Parliament in which PC Keith Palmer was murdered.

Journalists based at Westminster who witnessed the incident say there were shouts of “knife” before the man was tasered and held at the ground at gun pointed:

Evening Standard political reporter Joe Murphy

Mirror’s Ben Glaze and Mikey Smith¬†

Channel 4’s Michael Crick

The man has since been led away and everything appears to have returned to normal:

Scrapbook is sad to see another attack on democracy on the anniversary of the murder of Labour MP Jo Cox.

Well done to those officers who dealt with it so quickly…
