Labour MPs took to the House of Commons today to urge the British government to ratify the Istanbul Convention on domestic violence.
The Istanbul Convention has been hailed as one of the most comprehensive pieces of legislation written anywhere on dealing with domestic violence.
One of the more powerful speakers was Labour’s Jess Phillips, who was also praised by other MPs

Great speech as always from @jessphillips on the need for us to ratify the Istanbul convention for sake of victims of domestic violence

But guess who was also listening… Tory MP Philip Davies, a man who would likely describe eating muesli as political correctness gawn mad.
Davies tried to interject Phillips’ speech in Parliament today. She shut him down.

Davies later told the House of Commons:
I have a fundamental objection to the whole premise that we only need to deal with violence against women…
Labour MPs pointed out the legislation was aimed at all victims of domestic violence, not just women.
Once again, Philip Davies doesn’t bother paying attention to the issue at hand but gets on his hobby horse
