On Newsnight last night, Tory London Mayoral Candidate Zac Goldsmith faced questions about his complicated tax affairs.
“Being non-dom allows you to make lifestyle choices and avoid paying tax,” says Goldsmith, but then carefully says: “I have an income that comes to the UK, on which I’ve always paid full tax.”
The prospective Mayoral candidate admitted in 2009 to being a non-dom, but surrendered that status the following year.
On Newsnight last night he said his father’s wealth was held offshore in a trust in Geneva.
At least Goldsmith finally agreed to publish his tax returns
Update: We asked Zac a few questions over Twitter but he hasn’t responded yet
