With David Cameron accused of abusing his position (not to mention brazen hypocrisy) by complaining to his own council about Tory cuts, there is an inevitable clamour for an investigation under the Ministerial Code.
With the PM inviting local councillors to a meeting in Downing Street to discuss frontline services in his Oxfordshire constituency, Labour’s Jon Ashworth told the Today programme this morning:
“What I am concerned about is that the Prime Minister seems to be conflating his ministerial role with his role as the member of parliament for Witney
“It feels like a breach and I hope the Cabinet Secretary will look into it.
But whether David Cameron is subject to an investigation isn’t up to the cabinet secretary but … errrr … David Cameron. The Code says:
Don’t hold your breath.
