Recently updated figures show there’s been a massive 23% rise in youth gang offences in London during the last year.
The rise comes after a 23% cut in the number of uniformed officers dedicated to borough and neighbourhood policing in the capital since 2010.
But don’t worry.
The Home Secretary Theresa May assures us claims from serving police officers that cuts in policing will lead to rising crime are just “scaremongering” and “crying wolf”.
So presumably that 14% rise in knife crime with injury in the past 12 months, and the 8% increase in serious youth violence as well as the, errrr, 16.5% increase in the number of firearms discharged in the capital over the last 12 months are all just silly “scaremongering” and “crying wolf” too.
Thank heavens for that.
