In the latest instance of financial difficulties rocking the now fragmented BNP, Richard Barnbrook, London Assembly member and former deputy leader of the party, has been accused of defrauding the Greater London Authority and the taxman to the tune of £1 million in order to finance his office costs and staff at City Hall.
Now expelled from the BNP in Nick Griffin’s purge of his rivals, the allegations against Barnbrook can be added to the catalogue of cases, which have accompanied the party’s shrinking support and parlous finances. These include embarrassingly running out of money mid campaign during last year’s Welsh Assembly elections and a raft of court cases resulting from unpaid invoices.
The party is reeling. It’s time to deliver the knockout blow.
