UKIP race rhetoric rebellion: 50% of glossy spread stars turn on party

Young UKIP Evening Standard feature

Half of the young UKIP supporters featured in a glossy magazine spread just eight months ago have either quit the party or are refusing to campaign for them — citing inflammatory rhetoric on immigration.

21 year-old Sanya-Jeet Thandi (above top), who has been one of the party’s most prominent ethnic minority supporters in the media, has claimed that UKIP have descended into a “form of racist populism”, writing in the Guardian today:

“the direction in which the party is going is terrifying: Ukip has descended into a form of racist populism that I cannot bring myself to vote for. This week I decided to leave the party and I will abstain from voting in the upcoming European elections. I urge other Ukip supporters to do the same.

She follows the “future face of UKIP” Alexandra Swann (above bottom) in no longer wanting to be identified with the party. Swann told the Indy just last month:

“I can’t bring myself to campaign for them.”

“The focus moved to immigration. It was difficult with the anti-gay marriage stuff. Now so much of their argument is anti-immigration which didn’t sit well with me.”

Could this spread be UKIP’s version of the toxic ‘Tatler Tories’?

Stay classy: right-wingers react to death of Mandela

First up, high-profile UKIP activist Alexandra Swann, whose speech to their 2012 Spring conference was introduced by Nigel Farage. Supplementing her own crap with re-tweets calling Mandela a “terrorist”Scrapbook supposes she would be happier in the 1980s Federation of Conservative Students wearing a “Hang Nelson Mandela” T-shirt:

This is how she reacted to Barack Obama’s tribute:

Meanwhile Rod Liddle looks to kills two birds with one stone:

“But for Christ’s sake BBC, give it a bloody break for five minutes, will you? It’s as if the poor bugger now has to bear your entire self-flagellating white post-colonial bien pensant guilt; look! Famous nice black man dies! Let’s re-run the entire history of South Africa. That’s better than watching the country we’re in being flattened by a storm.”

Doubtless we’ll have cause to update this post again tomorrow.

Now UKIP recruit claims it is “dangerous” to let unemployed vote

After Scrapbook exposed sick comments from a UKIP councillor on banning unemployed people from voting, the party’s most high-profile new recruit has rushed to his defence, claiming Cllr Tom Bursnall “has a point”, going on to say it is “dangerous” to let unemployed people vote.

Having defected from the Tories, 23 year-old Alexandra Swann was the star turn at UKIP’s recent conference in Skegness — with party leader Nigel Farage proudly declaring that “the Swann has migrated”.

But appearing to agree with Cllr Bursnall, who as the former chair of Conservative Future is also a defector from the Tories to UKIP, she continued:

“allowing people to vote on how other people’s money is spent — if they dont contribute — is dangerous”

With these views, Scrapbook was unsurprised to learn that Swann idolises anarcho-Libertarian philosophers and is completing a PhD in social Darwinism.
