Oxford University Conservative Association (OUCA) continues to stake its claim as the exemplar of the ‘Nasty Party’ — with its director of communications branding Nelson Mandela a terrorist a day after he died.

Brasenose College Law student Jeff Vinall made the remarks on Facebook just hours after news broke of the Nobel laureate’s passing:

A fellow OUCA member told the Oxford Tab:

“I have grave concerns about some of Jeff’s behaviour, he needs to understand that OUCA has to rapidly change if it’s ever going to be a proper Conservative society and not just a bunch of oddballs with unsavoury opinions.”

They can’t help themselves.

  1. Given that Mr Mandela pleaded guilty to (from memory) 130 acts of terrorism, I’m not sure that Jeff Vinall was incorrect – although I’m sure he could have acknowledged the contribution Mr Mandela made to peace and reconciliation in RSA after his release.
