Bob Diamond pulls out of $75,000 per head fundraiser for Mitt Romney

The most recent addition to UK unemployment figures, former Barclays chief Bob Diamond, has chickened out of hosting a London fundraiser for Mitt Romney — with tickets costing up to $75,000 per head.

Diamond pulled out of the London event last night, several hours before quitting as boss of Barclays. Romney himself is thought to be gracing the bash with his presence, which is scheduled to coincide with the Olympics opening ceremony.

To attend the private dinner, guests must be willing to cough up a donation of between $25,000 and $75,000 to Romney’s campaign, and be able to provide evidence that they are a US citizen.

According to reports:

“Guests at the dinner, which will take place at an unspecified venue in central London, have been told that they must provide a copy of an American passport.”

Just like Arizona, then.

I expect that, like the rest of us, he is a bit strapped for cash at the moment!

All right, let’s see who-all now would favour a Bain Capital type of company to go in and wind down Barclays Bank and make all the high-ranking executives there redundant. A “Mitt Romney” has his uses.

Mitt Romney, who wears magical underwear at all times, with secret symbols sewn on them!
