Embattled Jubilee stewards boss calls in Princess Diana’s lawyers

Embattled Jubilee stewards boss Molly Prince is trying to save her taxpayer-funded business empire by calling in the priciest media and legal assistance going — including Princess Diana’s lawyers. Scrapbook understands Publicist Max Clifford will be joined by Charlotte Harris of Mischon De Reya.

We looks forward with interest to their attempts to spin her 12-month suspended sentence.

UPDATE (18:32) »Full statement from Max Clifford

The first sentence of this is hilarious.

Reports of Molly Prince’s 12-month suspended sentence for perverting the course of justice have lead to her being mis-characterised.

Molly was asked to write a chapter in the book, Bouncers and Bodyguards: Tales from a Twilight World by Robin Barratt in 2004/2005.

The incident happened in the mid-90s when Molly was running a pub in Milnsbridge, Yorkshire.  A barmaid who worked for her at the time arrived at the pub bleeding, having been very badly beaten by her boyfriend.

Molly asked her to stay at the pub, but the barmaid wanted to go home, so Molly gave her a lift.

Two locals who were in the pub accompanied Molly and the barmaid in the car.  The barmaid’s boyfriend was hiding in the ally next to her house and the two men who accompanied Molly chased him.  This was all that Molly witnessed.

The two men returned 15 minutes later and said he had got away.  Molly drove back to the pub with the two men in her car.

The next day, the Police arrived at her pub and told her that the barmaid’s boyfriend had been badly assaulted.  The barmaid was with her boyfriend in hospital and told the police that Molly had taken the men to her house.  The police informed Molly she was going to be charged alongside the two men.

The men confirmed to the police in their statement that Molly had nothing to do with the assault. The police asked Molly to give evidence about events she had not witnessed.

Molly agreed to plead guilty to perverting the course of justice at the Crown Court at the start of the trial to bring an end to the matter, on the advice of her barrister at the time.  With hindsight, she admits this was the wrong thing to do.

Serious allegations are being made by many people that are unfair to Molly, a hard working single mother who is trying to get on with her life.  Some are trying to make political capital out of this but Molly can and will prove these allegations to be untrue and very damaging, not just for her but for her team who mean so much to her.

Molly is now seeking legal advice.

Nothing in Max Clifford’s statement changes the facts – the rest is just spin.

Max Clifford has sunk even lower in my estimation by taking on this woman as one of his clients.
The last two paragraphs are unbelievable – why did she plead guilty if she was not? And, as she is a ‘single mother trying to get on’ – we should sympathise; ( as the Tories show sympathy to single mums!), and it ‘political capital’ is being made. Well if this Government used shady customers to carry out it’s dodgy schemes then we have a right to investigate, criticise and comment.
This story just illustrates the seamy underside of many of the Tories schemes to save money and enrich their supporters.

The next step is obviously to identify the barrister responsible for this outrageous miscarriage of justice.

Did she commit perjury by confessing in court to something she did not commit and giving statements that convinced the CPS? Just asking Max not implying anything

Spelling error in the first sentence (lead instead of led). She must have opted for Max’s bronze service.

totally unconvincing statement, the only thing that rings true is that Molly is a liar, due to her statements being the polar opposite of each other.

Now I know it is early days on this Max, and that times have moved on but we are in the twitter age not the Murdoch age now so here goes.
    1) what about her directorships?
    2) what about the multiple entries?
    3) what about suspicious accounts?
4)what about the apparent sham offices?
    5) what about the rules for directorship?
    6) what about the accusations re poor quality training?
    7) who’s money is she paying you with?
As I say this is a different age and it won’t do to just fob people off, real answers please.

This is good news and shows that this website and other campaigners have succeeded in getting Molly Prince’s shady past out into the open. Well done to everyone! If Molly Prince thinks legal bullying will quiet people down, she is sadly mistaken and arrogant.

Considering that comments are now being censored on the Guardian, we have to find somewhere to go
Let’s not focus too much on this story of “perverting the course of justice”, as it might detract from more important stuff. It seems that is where Max Clifford wants to go, and we can let him this bone to gnaw. Let’s try to understand how the director of so many dissolved companies, using different names, addresses, with so heavy liabilities could have been choosen in a tender process.
The tender process documents have to indicate specifications of what is expected, how it is going to be achieved and if it is too cheap, there is a catch.
There is also the issue of subcontracting. It is normally specified in the terms and conditions of the contract.
The whole story is about privatisation of public services, the right of workers to earn a decent living.
The rot comes from the top, and people like Molly Prince are just people jumping in the bandwagon. She might have started as a deserving single mother, but she exemplifies all what has become wrong today with this country.

As for being politically motivated ..it’s just as much a right wing issue as it is a left wing one ? …it’s also a issue of morals , ethics and decency apolitical one as well

..there’s true blue tory squaddies often with eye watering authoratarian right wing views that PR Call Me Dodgy Dave will make redundant ….they don’t want Walter Mitty types , bits of kids , and thick neck thugs that have watched too many Danny Dyer films , with mickey mouse qualifications flooding the job market in civvy street for security work

Secondly the true blue Maggie’s Private Army types in the Police FED don’t want her and her staff doing policing on the cheap either ?

“Max Clifford has sunk even lower in my estimation”

Why? He’s doing what he’s always done: embarrassing the conservative party. Let’s face it if he was genuinely trying to help he’d have advised her to shut up rather than put out such a risible statement which will only help to keep the story on the boil.

Just going back to the statement, are the serious allegations made against Molly that she has a prosecution? Can people be perused for stating a fact found in a court of law now?

  21. Posted June 9, 2012 at 12:32 am | Permalink

Anita is right… This is a side show and if Clifford is leading us here, that means that there are more interesting things that we should be looking at.

Still, I’d like to know who is paying for all this representation that most people couldn’t begin to afford…

Great work by PS, the Guardian is indeed censoring comments left, right and centre, i don’t expect anything less these days tbh, there is a concerted campaign to divert money from the public sector to the private, regardless of the individuals involved, keep up the good work PS, do not allow yourselves to be silenced.
