A new survey has revealed that 55% of voters think that George Osborne is “too posh to understand the financial pressures on ordinary people”. While that delivers a body blow to Gideon’s hopes of succeeding Cameron as Tory leader, the news that 48% of people think the chancellor has “made too many mistakes to be taken seriously” will furrow brows across the coalition.
It should also come as no shock that 52% believe he “comes across as arrogant”. The ComRes poll for the Indy on Sunday and Sunday Mirror shows that even more voters — six in ten — reckon Osborne is generally “out of touch with the public”.
This rises to 63% amongst over 45s — and they’re much more likely to vote.

Wasn’t there a category ‘smirking bastard’ for respondents to tick?
@Jemmy: Sadly not!
Perhaps if we have a whip round they’ll add that question to their next poll?
