Prosecutors launch full probe into Aidan Burley Nazi-themed party

After he was caught using his mobile during a lecture by a holocaust survivor, this afternoon brings yet more bad news from Aidan Burley. French prosecutors have told AFP that they have launched a full investigation into the Nazi-themed party he attended late last year.

Prosecutor Patrick Quincy told the news agency:

“The investigation will focus on charges of defending war crimes or crimes against humanity, promoting racial hatred, wearing the uniform of an organisation that carried out crimes against humanity and making racist insults”

So much for that attempted comeback.

UPDATE (16:44) »Dudley MP Ian Austin has put the knife in: “Surely David Cameron has got to stop dithering and take the whip off Aidan Burley whilst the French investigation and Conservative Party investigation take place. The French authorities are clearly taking the disgraceful events at the stag party in which Mr. Burley was involved very seriously and it is about time that David Cameron and the Conservative Party did the same”

So are they under investigation for both glamourising, and mocking the nazis?

His behaviour and that of his friends display an extraordinary ignorance. That he has not had the common decency to resign as an MP is only worsened by the Tory party not giving him the sack.
His behaviour is about as tactful as dressing up as a terrorist near the two towers. Big joke, ha ha! How old is he ? A little knowledge of history and ordinary good manners would have told Mr Burley that his behaviour, apart from being in ordinary very bad taste actually happened in an area of France where the resistance movement was especially strong and the numerous memeorials to heroes of the reistance portry this.
