Aidan Burley in Commons clash with Ian Austin over Nazi stag do

Dudley North MP Ian Austin isn’t letting the matter of Aidan Burley’s Nazi antics go easily. And complaints from an Oldham student that Burley was playing with his phone when he should have been listening to a holocaust survivor in Auschwitz made for fractious scenes when raised in the Commons this afternoon.

This is well worth watching if only for the Burley reaction shot.

If looks could kill.

Our country’s politics will never actually help the people as long as it’s dominated by cheap hacks.

    But what was Burley saying?

I’m reliably informed he was shouting “Libel!”.

Which is a bold claim in itself.

Parliamentary privilege allows libellous remarks I believe. It allows the naming of people who have been granted privacy orders by a high court judge so I think Mr Burley would be very disappointed if he tried sueing for libel.

But Mr Austin does raise an important matter – just when WILL that investigation be completed & if already done, what was the outcome?

I think we should be told……….
