Nick Clegg paint protester was “disaffected Lib Dem”

As the national media line up to condemn mindless paint-related thuggery aimed at Nick Clegg and Scottish leader Willie Rennie, speculation is rife that the perpetrator was once a Liberal Democrat.

Nick Clegg shrugged off the incident, saying it was “no big deal”, but perhaps he would be more perturbed by the attack if he knew a former party member was behind it? James Harrison, former President of Glasgow University Lib Dems, appears to have provided confirmation on Twitter.

Once Clegg was down with the kids, now he’s just down the dry cleaners.

It doesn’t really matter who it was. I despise Nick Clegg, but the moron who did this has no increased or decreased validity or relevance because of who he was.

Of course it has! This guy was once a member of the Liberal Democrats. It’s one thing getting attacked by lifelong opponents, but during Nick Clegg’s leadership he’s gone from sycophant to paint drencher.

It’s worth pointing out that he never voted for the Lib Dems though. He voted Labour on election day, so there’s no “betrayal” for him!
