Liverpool councillor becomes 61st to quit Liberal Democrats in one year

As another Liberal Democrat leaves the group on Liverpool City Council, the total number of councillors to quit the party nationwide — that we know about — has risen to 61. The move comes a week after local leader Warren Bradley was suspended from the party amid allegations of electoral fraud.

As he defected to Labour, Gary Millar told the Liverpool Daily Post:

“Twelve months ago I was happy to call myself a Lib Dem, today they make me question my integrity and reputation”

This means a minimum of one in every 64 Liberal Democrat councillors has now left the party.

But there must be more.

Get in touch and let us know which ones we’ve missed.

A good round up but some of the list in the S-West have defected for more ‘personal’ reasons, including their party deselected them for these elections coming up next week!

@Jack: Ones we’ve included already or not? Either way, I think we’ll include them unless SW Lib Dems want to come clean about why they’re not standing.

@Laurence – yes for example in Bath, Carol Paradise was basically given the ‘local lib dem’ boot from her relatively safe ward, now she is standing for the Tories in the exact same ward, so not sure how it will go. But still, regardless, stands testament to how the Lib Dem party is changing.
