The Cabinet Secretary Gus O’Donnell has reprimanded David Cameron over the behaviour of Tory special advisers, an exclusive report by PR Week reveals. The unprecedented action follows comments to The Times made by one of Eric Pickles’ special advisers that Audit Commission chair Jenny Watson had “built her career on incompetence”.

The government is using every trick in the book to avoid answering freedom of information requests which would reveal which of Pickles’ aides, Sheridan Westlake and Giles Kenningham, made the comments.  It is unlikely that either could survive such a revelation given a post from Political Scrapbook that DCLG may have spent tens of thousands of pounds on legal advice in relation to the potentially libellous remarks.

So which hack is going to put Eric on the spot about this?
