The Catnap Trial: MP's wife due in court over kitten theft

The wife of Scrapbook’s favourite Birmingham MP is to stand trial under the 1968 Theft Act. Christine Hemming — wife of philandering  millionaire Liberal Democrat John Hemming — will appear before a crown court judge on Monday accused of stealing a kitten.

Christine (pictured above with her own cat) is charged with burgling the home of her husband’s mistress and mother of his lovechild, local councillor Emily Cox (inset). Nothing has been seen of the mislaid moggy for months, with the absence of news leaving members of the Friends of Beauty the Kitten Facebook group fearing the worst.

Mrs Hemming was granted bail and, erm, ordered to stay away from Cllr Cox and her home.

Hemming hit the headlines last week for telling his local paper he couldn’t promise not to cheat on his wife again.
