Scrapbook hears that members who are supporting tonight’s bill to scrap EMA are doing everything they can to avoid being lobbied by pro-EMA campaigners, even if they are constituents.

Talk in Westminster today is of (largely Tory) MPs’ evasive strategies to avoid being lobbied by students, including refusing to meet with people who aren’t on the electoral register, despite the fact that the majority of people who qualify for the Education Maintenance Allowance are under 18, and therefore less likely to appear.

It seems Tory MPs are too ashamed to justify their decision to the very people it will affect.
