MP's wife charged with stealing kitten

Birmingham Yardley MP John Hemming blogged yesterday to plead for the safe return of a cat belonging to the mother of his love child. Meanwhile, the woman appearing in the dock of Birmingham Magistrates’ Court charged with the theft of the £20 kitten was, erm, Hemming’s long-suffering wife Christine.

The Hemmings stayed together despite the revelation in 2005 of the pregnancy of John’s personal assistant after an extramarital affair described by Christine as “about number 26″. The accused has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear before magistrates again on December 16th for a committal hearing.

Beauty’s whereabouts remain unknown.
