Research indicates that ethnic minority groups are better represented in UK universities than in the general population. The University of Bristol has 10.0% ethnic minority students, below the 14.1% across the Russell Group of top research universities. Could this below average performance have anything to do with the university’s Card Services department?
Their rather unfortunate photo guidelines for student ID cards advise against yah-hair, having a blurry face and, erm, being “too dark”!*
Facepalm.
*We shouldn’t need to point out that this is an unfortunate (and amusing) faux pas rather than racist, but we’re going to anyway.

I am a black female, and this kind of misguided ‘political correctness’ is what gives all equality issues a bad name. So it’s too dark? So what? People, get over yourselves!
