Hats off to US congressman Anthony Weiner, who unleashed a tirade at Republicans looking to block $7bn funding for incapacitated firefighters and others 9/11 first responders. Flying in the face of convention in the House of Representatives, a pointy-fingered Weiner refused to give way to requests for intervention, screaming at colleagues to “sit down”:
