Turning the clock back: Acceptable in the 80s?

Labour’s choice for the #peoplesposter competition is coming in for a bit of a bashing but that doesn’t change the underlying message: turning the political clock back to free-wheeling Thatcherism would be a total disaster. There are other ways to get this across and John Prescott pointed to Scrapbook’s viewer-submitted video using Calvin Harris’ Acceptable in the 80s.

Here it is in its full glory:

Apologies for the irregular posts in the past few days.

There are a number of irons in the fire for next week!

Portraying the Great Leader as a thuggish class-warrior might be moderately amusing, but it is surely a retrograde step? It is certainly NOT how Tony Blair won three successive General Elections for the Labour Party.

No, it can only be of appeal to the die-hard left wing of the party who want to drag Britain back to the 70s.

This sort of campaign might save the party from extinction but it will assure a Conservative victory and ulitimately make Labour as unelectable as it was under Foot.

Don’t be silly, the 80s were the only time it was worth voting Tory. Labour were loony and the unions were bastards.

When was it less acceptable to vote Tory?
